TORGHATTEN
Connecting the Norwegian coastline
NFI’s business units Torghatten and Molslinjen operate an indispensable part of the pan-Nordic transport infrastructure network, where our ferries seamlessly integrate with the road network as a floating bridge and function as critical links in the existing road network.

Serving the coast since 1878
Torghatten’s story began with a steamship off the coast of Brønnøysund in 1878. Today, we are Norway’s largest ferry and express boat operator.
Ferries and express boats are the lifeline for coastal communities — as they have been for over a century. For nearly 150 years, Torghatten has made it possible for people to live and thrive in local communities along our coast and fjords, and our purpose remains to connect people and communities through sustainable infrastructure. Today, our vessels operate all along the Norwegian coast.
"Our ambition is to be Norway’s preferred express boat operator.”
The shift toward zero emissions is transforming the maritime sector at a rapid pace. Torghatten is committed to reaching net zero by 2040, thus leading our industry back to the same emissions level as when ships were powered by sails and oars.
Through innovation, technological excellence, ambitious fleet renewal, and a strong focus on operational efficiency, we will fulfil our ambition: to be Norway’s preferred ferry and express boat operator.
ELECTRIFICATION
Record-breaking
charging effects
Pushing the boundaries of charging power and battery capacity is essential for electrifying Norway’s ferry fleet. Bognes-Lødingen being Norway’s longest fully electric ferry route, the new contract enables Torghatten to add industry-leading charging power to our accolades.
