Pioneering sustainable ferry transportation
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
We’re deeply aware of the urgent environmental challenges we face today and the critical role the maritime sector plays in the clean energy transition.
As we grow our business and expand our route network, we’re committed to leading the way in sustainable ferry solutions—balancing essential connectivity with the need to cut emissions and protect our marine ecosystems.
Decarbonizing our fleet is one of our top priorities. Our goal is to reach net-zero emissions from ferry operations by 2040, a commitment that demands significant investment in vessels, infrastructure, and day-to-day operations. Sustainability isn’t a separate initiative—it’s built into our strategy and guides every decision we make across the Group.
Our journey towards net zero
In 2024, we achieved an important milestone with the validation of our science-based emission reduction targets. These targets align our decarbonization efforts with the goals of the Paris Agreement, providing a clear pathway to reduce emissions across our fleet and operations.
Near-term targets by 2030*
44%
44% reduction in well-to-wake GHG emissions per tonne nautical mile from Ferry RoRo and Passengers operations
41%
41% reduction in absolute well-to-wake emissions from ferry passengers only
42%
42% reduction in absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from use of sold products

Long-term targets by 2040*
97%
97% reduction in well-to-wake GHG emissions per tonne nautical mile from Ferry RoRo and Passengers operations
97%
97% reduction in absolute well-to-wake emissions from ferry passengers only
90%
90% reduction in absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from use of sold products

Our approach
We know that reaching our net-zero goal by 2040 will rely on breakthroughs in zero-emission technology and cleaner fuels for the next generation of ferries. While our full transition roadmap is still taking shape, our strategy is already aligned with science-based targets backed by the SBTi.
Our approach is flexible and data-driven. We constantly assess vessel upgrades, retrofits, and new investments in low- and zero-emission solutions—always weighing real-world factors like sailing distances, sea conditions, cost-effectiveness, and the readiness of new technologies.
