Torghatten AS was founded in 1878. The Norwegian ferry company operates over 90 car ferries and smaller passenger ferries on 50 different routes along the Norwegian coastline, typically under medium to long term contracts with public transportation authorities.

Torghatten operates 43 ferry connections and 15 high-speed passenger boat connections.

May 2024: Torghatten wins first ferry contract in Sweden

The transport company Västtrafik announced that Torghatten AB has won the tender for Strömstad-Koster, which has a duration of 15 years. Torghatten will build two new electric ferries to operate the connection, thereby further expanding the green fleet.

2024: Construction of the world's two largest hydrogen ships

Torghatten Nord has chosen the Norwegian shipyard Myklebust Verft to build two hydrogen ferries, which will transport up to 120 cars on Norway's longest ferry route between Bodø and Lofoten. The ferries will be the world's two largest hydrogen-powered ships and they will be refueled with hydrogen produced in Bodø.
